Has anybody else noticed that YouTube's audio quality is now worse than it used to be?
I used to be able to listen to music on YouTube quite happily, knowing I wasn't getting the most amazing quality out of it, but now I physically cannot listen to any music on there - cymbals and distorted guitars in particular just sound awful.
Has it always been this way and I've just now realised it or did they degrade their quality?
I think it's always been that way.
The music is degrading from rotational velocidensity from being stored lossily

I've seen a couple Reddit posts claiming they dropped from 256 to 128, which I totally buy. I've always been bothered by low-quality mp3s, its not as if I'm deaf to the difference, so I don't believe I've been listening to music this shite sounding all this time.
It really is BAD. I went on Vevo out of curiosity and it sounds just as bad.

It's been the same for years using HTML5, Opus with 160kb/s max.
