Yeah but it was pretty easy. I use a postres database and host the app on heroku for free. I bought a domain for like $12 a year with no hosting, and pointed the DNS thing at the heroku url.

You don't have to login every time you open front page, you sign up / connect once to have your personalized shit. I have it as new tab and it's pretty fast as well - no comparison to website localized at HDD, but still synchronizing is nice.

The all black site is a bit edgy for my tastes. I used a site called "coolors" to generate matching colour palettes because I suck at design.

I wrote my site in PHP, HTML, and CSS. Learning the CSS tricks was the hardest. Just seemed to have so many rules and built-in variables you have to know about. Using Firefox's developer console helped big time. You could modify the CSS and it would dynamically update the page. Sped up the process a lot.
