VPN by itself isn't foolproof. Of course it may help, but the amount of work you have to put in to stay completely anonymous is a significant amount.

Better than nothing.

What are you going to do with it, anon?
If you are not going to be a criminal it might be a better idea to get a VPS and if you are one you should use Tor anyway.
