What if unity fits my use case? Is. There any other environment that integrates window menu in its title bar and the title bar to the status panel to save vertical space by two lines? I'm on 17.04 for a week, only had kwin crash once - when changing the theme, and it was a weird one out - the rest of the time changing the workspace theme worked fine

Ubuntu MATE has screen tearing and visual glitches by default, but it's good overall after you enable the compositor and install drivers.
Linux Lite > Xubuntu
LXLE > Lubuntu
KDE Neon > Kubuntu
If you want to use GNOME, Fedora is much better than anything debian based.
If you want to use Budgie, Solus is better.
