4K or 1080p TV?

It'll be for playing weeb shit across all platforms(Older shit, PS4 Pro, Switch, PC/Emulators) and blu ray rips.

I can go 4K LED or 1080P OLED

My choices

When in doubt go for the higher pixel count

It'd be better for using the TV for a computer display.

But OLED is just nice, and weeb shit looks great when oversaturated.

Good quality FHD TVs are becoming hard to find new. Go 4K.
(rtings has good reviews of some TVs)
>blu ray rips
Beware with Samsung as some of their TVs can't do proper 24Hz (they apply a pulldown and you'll see judder).

>mfw even my 2008 low-end samsung tv can do proper 24hz.

It depends on how far you plan to be sitting away from it. I struggle to notice the difference with 1080p and 4k on my TV while sitting on the couch. But I would kill to have a 34 inch 4k monitor even if it meant a somewhat worse panel

I posted an affordable 1080P OLED new?
>>
>>59724602
My face will be about 8 feet from the TV.

4K then faggot

Are decent HDR LED sets mostly free from older LCD problems?

Like bleeding in a dark room and poor blacks?
>>
>>59724670
But that's a previous generation model but it confirms what I said.
Rtings say it's good.
>>59724732
the problem with 4k is the lack of content. Almost all sources require you to pay

>>59724757
That is a problem with LGs. Samsung and some Sony TVs do not have that problem (they use VA panels)
>>
>>59724764
How does VA stack against IPS in color production?
>>
>>59724764
The UHD Samsung I have has pretty bad light bleeding anon, albiet its a few years old now
>Almost all sources require you to pay
>spending over a $1,000 for the TV
Kinda a moot point to me

>>59724764
Couldn't tell you, I would just look up reviews for the specific model.

meant >>59724757 for the second part

Is there any way to rip 4K blu rays at this moment?
>>
>>59724808
VA
pros:
>very good native contrast (>3000:1)
>good black uniformity
cons:
>viewing angles could be better (~25°, more over that and contrast reduces)

IPS:
pros:
>good viewing angles(~36°)
cons:
>poor contrast(~1100:1)
>poor black uniformity

in color they're about the same thing. Almost all TVs cover the Rec.709 color space.

no, and if someone does it, AACS will start doing Internet provisioning.

I wanted a 1080p one when I was buying a TV last year (first time in 14 years) because I had no need for 4K, but I couldn't find one at the size and price point I wanted so I went for 4K.

No regrets so far, image quality is great and after calibrating and turning off stupid shit it looks unironically as good as my IPS monitor (I have the TV plugged into the PC too so I can compare directly). The little 4K content that's out there looks actually great (eg. Man in the High Castle on Amazon) and is a marked improvement over 1080p sources. Not as mindblowing as DVD vs BD was, but the extra crispiness and more natural grain in productions that have it is a nice touch.

tl;dr go for a good 4K if affordable, there are few non-shit spec 1080p TVs from 2016 onwards anyway. 4K is losing its meme status and becoming the norm.
