With the lack of support for SLI and CrossFire in vidya lately, gamers don't even need huge desktops. Most would be fine with a MicroATX or even a MiniITX build with a single card, with a few 3.5" drive bays. And if you want, most of that can be replaced with a NAS, and all you really need would be a spacious SSD and a 1-2TB HDD for games.

shit breaks, it happens. Just when shit breaks on these it's almost always a pain. A dell optiplex psu swapout takes seconds, these not so much.

Alright then my original point saying the AIO doesn't suffice when you need more ram is not based on anything technology wise, it's basic logic, if I need more ram than what an AIO can offer I'll build a desktop.

Saying that the average user doesn't need more than what those abominations can pack in is also wrong. While helping my parents just a few months ago with their home PC their average memory use was hovering around 4-4.5GiB because of the extra shit they installed, that's just at desktop with no web browser open. When they opened up a web browser, (90% of their use) the useage would spike to about 6.5GiB because of addons and the usual 10-20 tabs they had open. They're not super with computers but I would lump them in with the average user base. So to say that an AIO can supply the average user with enough memory to fulfill average tasks is fucking stupid.

Further more when using my desktop under load I use around 6GiB or memory, that's with my IDE open, a few Chrome windows, music, maybe a video, the whole works.
