I've run into this with jobs and I haven't even graduated. "Women and underrepresented minorities strongly encouraged to apply" and the like basically means that if you're a white male, you're almost guaranteed not to get the job unless every other applicant is garbage. Even then it's not likely.

I don't know what's up with amerifags but here in Germany it's not that good of a situation.
Graduated design last year, I only know very few of my class who are actually working in design, and finding an internship was very hard. Generally you have to put up with 60+hrs work weeks and meager pay (because "it is a dream job and self-actualization really is the best reward") at big agencies. Cousin was best of his class and is still unemployed.

That's why I'm enrolled in CS now.
