I'm currently sitting on a Verizon family plan from ~2003 with unlimited data.
The problem is that I'm also paying an extra 70 dollars a month for 700 minutes, far more than I actually use.
Are there any alternative unlimited cellular data plans that are worthwhile these days? I'd like to not pay 150 a month.

Verizon has a $80 a month for a single unlimited plan with unlimited min and text.

Is there any throttling or other drawbacks?
What networks/companies are better than Verizon?

I'm calling total bullshit on this. I had unlimited also. But it's tied to the device you sign up with. So unless you are still on 2003ish tech wise, it's just not believable. You can buy another used moto x, and crawl along at 3g, but I gave up. Not worth it.

I'm using a Galaxy S5. The plan is tied to the SIM card, so I can put it into whatever phone.

How do they tie it to your device? Why do American ISPs have so much control over your phone plans? I've heard that you guys can't even tether from your phone.
