Why do only datacenter guys get all the cool networking stuff?
We're still stuck with 1GbE here.
>>59654881
>We're still stuck with 1GbE here.
only you
>>59654986
10GbE NICs and (managed) switches are still costly as fuck
>>59654881
What were you planning to do with >1GBits network connection?
>>59655018
For starters I'd like to have a NAS that isn't transferring a few 20GB movies at 100MB/s over the fucking wire.
>>59655047
Sounds like shitty drives
>>59655018
It's really easy to saturate a plain old cat5e 1gbit line,, especially if you've got a few 7.2k hdd's in RAID
>>59655085
Yeah, because 1GbE really allows you to much higher throughput, duh.
Moron, the drives hit up to 200MB/s sequential write/read locally
>>59655011
They're $100 for Cisco 3750Es which are stackable. It works out to $50 per 10GbE port for a layer 3 switch. People here spend plenty of money on GPUs, cases and faggy LED RAM, $50 per 10GbE network port isnt unreasonable.
>>59655011
>>59655150
And 10GbE NICs are dirt cheap, pic related has 12
>>59655180
Unless the NIC supports something like InterruptThrottleRate I'm not touching it.
I assume most newerish 10GbE Intel NICs support it
>>59655047
That's gonna need more than just faster ethernet. Even with RAID 10 you'll have problems saturating 10 GBit/s.
>>59654881
Better question, when they fuck will we get faster storage and shit in general.
Copying 500Gb should not take half an hour.
>>59655481
You already got NVME drives with 3000MB/s writes and 500k IOPS (qd32)
>>59655499
Yea, and they are expensive as fuck and everyone loves to charge 60 bucks for 120 GB of fucking storage.
SSDs will never be the future if the fucking kikes don't lower prices. We should have 500GB drives for like 80 bucks by now, TLC has been out for fucking years.
>>59655499
>(qd32)
Literally no use case ever.
QD1 and up to QD8 is are what you'll see mostly used in software nowadays, QD32 is literally oil company tier
>>59655456
>Even with RAID 10 you'll have problems saturating 10 GBit/s.
lol ok
>>59655546
>Literally no use case ever.
pic related. 32 command queued and all im doing is copying a file.
>>59655667
>queued
active
>>59655617
Look who's back
>>59655617
>>59655690
fuck wrong pic
>>59655698
That's a lot of disk space for a bunch of loli porn.
