What's the safest anti-spy browser to use right now? I downloaded a new browser last night called IRON it claims to be privacy protective but its based on Chromium build. I don't know how trustworthy is that.

what about this one:

> Qt browser?

is this worth trying. IRON and Qt are the only ones I got so far other than the mainstream ones.
>>
>>59654604

Epic browser aint a scam. Its legit, and rivals TOR level security.
>>
>>59654257
>>59654257
Firefox, maybe ungoogled chromium is acceptable but who knows? IRON literally distributes malware in ads inside the browser.

Qutebrowser is pretty cool, kinda buggy though.

Yeah, thats what firefox feels like with proper configs. There's still minor calling home and you have to pray google doesn't install random blobs in it again.

I really wish firefox would just ship with usable configs out of the box, don't even need to fork it.

Firefox with privacy/security add ons. I use Nightly. Any time you use something geared towards privacy, you'll probably take a speed hit. I'm using a bunch of add ons for privacy and it can get pretty slow sometimes, but I'm also using a VPN.

See this site for tips on how to replace your botnet's with privacy-oriented software.

w3m through tor on a tails live cd
>>
>>59657688

The most potent way to achieve this is recompiling Firefox with Profile Guided Optimizations and setting a cpu specific flag on the compiler with the auto-vectorizer enable. ex:

In the mozconfig file:
 ac_add_options --enable-profile-guided-optimization

In GCC/ICC/LVM:
-march=native -O3 -mfpmath=sse

The performance is real.

Why doesnt chromium ungoogled not have any extensions? How do I disable ads?
>>
After using Firefox for 15 years with only a handful of productivity extensions, I switched to Chrome last week and noticed a performance boost from the same hardware. Yeah, it uses more RAM, but it also uses less CPU. I tried Chromium before this and only got 360p on YouTube. I wish there were a fast, privacy-first browser that just werks.
>>
>>59661047
Don't use browsers for Youtube on older hardware.
HTML5 fucking sucks hard even on recent-ish hardware, inconsistently at that.
I've seen 5 year old hardware play it like it was nothing, and hardware THIS YEAR struggle to play it with stable frames.
It is the worst fucking spec in history with very poor support in hardware.

You can open Youtube URLs in various media players. (I think most up-to-date ones, right?)
Plus, there is a good thing with this: no ads, no stupid shitty site design, no shitty comments, no annotation-shit (not that that matters now, RIP)

Or write a script to intercept the clipboard / URL requests to append &nohtml5=1 on to the end of both youtu.be and youtube.com (and any local TLDs if any?)
I do this occasionally if I want to see comments on those videos. I'm thinking of just writing a comment-fetcher instead, if one doesn't exist already, and hooking a script to a media player and hook a button to load comments next to the window if I ever wanted them. Low priority though.
