Is SLI still shit? I have a 1080 GTX. Should I get a second one cheap off ebay, or sell mine for cheap on ebay and get a 1080Ti? Which would be a better investment?

t. fell for the 4k meme

SLI is fine, despite the memes.

I run 980 SLI at 4K and it works in pretty much everything. There are exceptions of course though but anything that really pushes the GPU will tend to support it.

That said, SLI scaling is pretty sad compared to crossfire scaling (roughly 50-60%) and considering the 1080Ti is already around 25-30% better than the 1080, it's enough to push you into a happy place for 4K/60FPS but I think you'd be smarter to simply wait for the GTX 1180.

Do you get any microstutter or did that meme die?

I haven't SLI'd since forever. I'm thinking of upgrading now or staying put because by next gen there'll be little point in ebaying my card (now, it still fetches an okay amount)

this
my 770s run 1440p just fine so long as i stay under 2gb vram

>SLI scaling is pretty sad compared to crossfire scaling
and SLI has better compatibility with games
it's just a sad situation all around

I get noticeable stutter playing witcher 3

maybe I should've invested in goysync but I like the monitor ;_;
>>
SLI as a technology hasn't been improved since 3dfx died

Only reason why crossfire is slightly better is that ATI copied the idea in the 2000's and has an edge over that 90's tech

NVIDIA is going to drop it anyway

Vega 10, AMD always scales better in 4K
>>
>>59650905
AMD bretty much replaced Crossfire with XDMA in 2013, they get stupidly high scaling and don't need a bridge now. Stutter is very low compared to SLI.

>Vega
No CUDA, I need TensorFlow for werk

And I'd have to sell my 1080 for a CF Vega rig anyway, and at that point might as well get a single Ti

its getting put on OpenCL soon anyways

It's been coming for years supposedly, will take as much time until bugs are ironed out

Maybe for next gen
