i just bought a new laptop with windows 10 preinstalled on it. ive only heard bad things about w10 (spyware embedded into the system and cant be turned off, privacy not respected, i dont like the ui), but couldnt find anything with windows 7 is there a way to downgrade genuinely or at least make 10 useable? what do you guys think of 10?

Trolling aside, install Ubuntu. I pirated win10. I only use it for gaming, like 4hrs per week. The remaining 50 or so I'm on Ubuntu
Install LFS.

Hey I'm planning on doing this. Any tips and tricks you mind sharing man? I'll probably install Windows and Ubuntu on the same ssd, but I've heard Widows will corrupt Ubuntu occasionally if you do that, have you had any experience with this?

Nah, I put them on different drives so I wouldn't know.

I don't know about SSDs, but for regular magnetic drives, as long as you install Windows first, you should be alright.

My mom bought a laptop from best buy for my little brother when he started high school and he didn't like 10 so they dude there offered to install his laptop's OS (win7) and basically every file already on it but the old laptop would be useless after wards. I'm not entirely sure he was able to that desu. My brother just kept the new one with 10 and did some tweaks to it, while my mom uses his old one to do taxes and shit. If you have an old laptop with 7 on it, ask if it's possible to get that installed instead of the 10 oem if you're willing to let go of the older laptop.

Forget it. You'll have to trust shady programs to modify your system's settings or spend a couple hours trying to change a lot of Registry keys and such.
All this is moot, since the damn thing won't stop speaking to Microsoft's servers unless you're on Enterprise (the only way to get one is to pirate it). And even then, some MS engineers said that they're integrating several of those spyware """Services""" into legit programs (like the File Explorer) so they can't be turned off.
Install a Linux distribution like Xubuntu or Mint; or look for a cheap win7 key online if you must use Windows. Disable Windows Updates and do it manually using WSUS Offline Updater.
