There's almost always either "/pol/ BTFO" or "really made me think" or whatever threads, and for major events you'll always find a variety of sources linked and referenced. Overall this builds up to a surprisingly complete picture.

Nah, there's no money in that. ArsTechnica is entertaining but doesn't deal in "objective" truth, Slashdot turned into a clickbait site ages ago, and pretty much every other tech news site is merely a portal through which tech companies advertise their latest prosumer bullshit.
