>he doesn't automatically redirect his site to https
Why doesn't 4chan do this? Are their sysadmin(s) that incompetent?
>>59607327
>mac minis
>>59607327
See >>59607365 & https ist only placebo anyways. I mean look at Google; it automatically redirects to https, but do you think it helps when they're part of PRISM?
>>59607414
https isn't placebo just because google hands over your data anyways to gov bodies you dumbass lmao
>>59607463
>He uses Yahoo instead of Google
>Still doesn't know Yahoo's part of PRISM
>2017
>>59607327
cause hiro's ad clients wouldn't be able to mine your ass that easily
>>59607327
It's most likely a conscious decision by the admin running the site. Some (old) web browsers will not be able to access the site if they are forced to use SSL.

searx.me
>>59607414
Youre talking about privacy, I beleive OP was talking about security.
>>59607638
No, it's just plain incompetence and not a conscious decision. Why would they bother supporting old and outdated browsers? It's your own choice if you use an old web browser so it's your problem and your problem only if you're unable to access websites because your web browser doesn't support modern cipher suites.

Paging Hiro: https://hstspreload.org/
>>59607897
Not saying I agree with it. Why you mad?
>>59607327
Yes.
Yes they are.
>>59608553
wtf are you talking about
>>59607327 Why should i force anybody to use https?
Because not all sites need to encrypt their data.
My website doesn't even have logins or users, fuck would I need to encrypt anything for?
>>59608769
then explain why the fuck goddamn wikipedia is encrypted ?
>>59607327
>Click settings on the 4chan plugin
>always use https
>>59608833
So the NSA doesnt know who visits controversial pages.
>>59608833
because
But both of my websites do a 301 to https
>>59608901
> forgetting secure.wikimedia.org that was here before Snowden
>>59608769
It also impacts your ratings in search engines but ok sweetie enjoy no one ever using your garbage website as usual~
>>59608941
It's a fucking portfolio, not a dating site~
>>59608930
I'm sure they have their reasons, either that or they're just plain dumb. I can't (and won't) defend someone else and their choices.
>>59607327
1) HTTPS has a small but scalable effect on a servers resources.
It is like 1 extra byte on a pages source becoming a million over a million users.
Seemingly insignificant at first glance suddenly becomes very significant.
2) This site was never created for anonymity or privacy.
It was created for shitposting about anime in a close group of friends and forum posters.
Even moot never cared for it, even though he gave that pretentious speech at TED so he could get hired by some company looking to hire someone influential. Which happened, several times, and all but Google has failed so far.
3) if you are looking at content illegal in your country, HTTPS is not even remotely going to stop people determined enough to find out.
>>59607327
>settings > Miscellaneous > Always use https
>>59608992
Has moot ever said what exactly he's doing at google?
>>59609063
I cannot remember for the life of me.
I'm sure he said it somewhere on Twitter did he not?
I stopped talking to him years before he said he was leaving because he turned in to a mega pretentious obnoxious normie.
He makes snacks look decent in comparison.

Helping them data mine
>>59609063
I heard he was working on Google+ or something.
