Grease to keep your bearings and couplings and lead screws from squeaking and seizing and fucking uo your part.
Gluestick and why you need it is what happens is if you use ABS you put a layer down and as the first rows cool down they start to shrink, causing the part to curl away from the bed giving you a shitty base layer which can affect the rest of your part. Or worse, cause the part to break free and now the whole thing needs to start from scratch.
You can also use what's called a "raft" where the printer puts down a bigger first layer then starts printing on top of it giving better adhesion.
