>You’ll find it amusing to know that Linus finds Debian difficult to install. Yes, this happened during an interview in 2007 and here’s what he had to say about the same a few years later:
>I’m sorry, you may want to close your ears now, I want a distribution to be easy to install, so that I can just get on with my life, which is mostly kernel.
>Linus calls Debian a ”pointless exercise” as the point of a distribution is to make things simple and easy to install.

Is that why Solus got so popular so quickly?
>>59603719
>x windows broke
No it didn't. I run triple head and one of my monitor's gave up the ghost yesterday. Even with a hardware failure it took about three minutes to formulate a new xrandr command, stick it in my xinitrc and restart x. This "X breaks all the time on Arch" thing is total crap.
>>59603719
I indeed started using arch because I had way too much time on my hands and I was annoyed with how ancient debian stable is
>inb4 debian testing
yeah, I know
I'm using non-rice Ubuntu on my desktop, on my laptop I still have Arch installed
AUR is the best thing ever
>>59603719
Debian is hard for a kernel hacker because you have to build the kernel as a package and then Install it, and Linus doesn't have time for that so he uses Fedora.
I have had a single issue installing arch that pertained exclusively to GRUB and somehow getting confused with an MBR drive that it thought was in UEFI mode. If anything, I've had more of an issue with windows not coming with device drivers, of all things, preinstalled for dumb shit like network cards made by intel of all companies.
>>59604297
No you don't. I build my own kernels all the time and I don't bother making it a deb package.
The Apple MacBook Pro with Retina Display doesn't have this problem.

He said this himself faggot.

Fuck you, Kevin!

>easy to install
>doesn't need extra work to get everything running
>looks great without ricing
Pretty much.
