You get about 2 dollars per 1,000 views after Alphabet takes their cut.

You can make decent money as a side project if you can reliably hit 250,000 viewers. Which comes out to about a three-hundred bucks.

Then you factor in you get more money the more viewers you attract, which in turn gets sponsored videos and paid product placement, all on top of the ad revenue generated. And if you want to get even more money set up a patreon which gives you more money the more content you publish.

Some of the channels pulling in a million views a video are making obscene amounts of money as a hobbiest.
