Lads what happened, I just want a light laptop that can work on as a professional. I didn't want to be forced into this worse of two evils hell. Am I the only one?

You're literally retarded.
>tricking /g/ into shopping for you
The sad part is it will work

XPS 13 9650 FHD is what you need. Go on sale sometimes, picked mine up for $880 in total a few months back.

Pick two, and only two.
XPS line might be good for you. Been considering getting a 2016 4K refurb on ebay myself but I'm keeping an open mind about it

And I hope it does since I'm in the exact same fucking position as OP.
I just want a light laptop, with decent battery life and a good screen that I don't have to sell half my kidney for and it apparently there's a massive gap in the market

f-fuck

Been considering these after few weeks of comparing the current market, probably where I'll eventually end up but I want to believe. The cycle of mid range laptops that need replacement every few years is equally painful. I just wish tablets weren't shit I would honestly downgrade if I could, the 2-in-1 current meme is just a trick into getting a trash laptop at ultrabook prices. The Chromebooks (Pixels now?) look decent as well, but it's just forgoing the Mac shitlock for a Google one, what a meme.

Buy a desktop, laptops are just shit in 2017.

If you have to replace a laptop this frequently, you are doing something wrong to it (unless you are using a laptop to play the latest vidya, in which case you are also doing something wrong)

>not getting an X1 Carbon and calling it a day

get a business laptop instead of consumer laptop then
then they're still $2k but definitely improvements over macbooks

Appliances follow the same model, things just aren't meant to last these days. Daily use and travel alone wear these things out quick, though I won't pretend I was ever buying Made To Last Quality. I couldn't play vidya on these if I wanted to desu, certainly isn't a requirement for a future one.

I'm not going to lie, I'm willing to accept botnet 10 at this point, just the ((illusion)) of freedom is more than you can say for mac/google locked in ecosystems.

>I just want a light laptop that can work on as a professional
So stop looking at the consumer market and look at the professional market.
Dell literally has an entire catalog for workstation laptops that are no frills, high-powered machines meant for use as a workstation.
>>59574744
Stop looking at the consumer sector and check the professional ranges. Dell Precisions, Lenovo Thinkpads, and HP Elitebooks are all relatively nice priced, not Macbook clones, and are good for getting proper work done.
