Whats /g/'s opinion on ITIL? Learning for the Foundation Exam right now, and it seems pretty bloated to me.
Tips on how to prepare for the exam would be appreciated as well.
great if your business depends on selling ITIL for obscene amount of taxpayer money
besides that not much value in it really
IT bosses like COBIT more because it gave them maturity level number they can brag to higher ups
Honestly it looks like total bullshit to me
It's just a tool for HR interviewers to cut all people that don't have some ITIL cert

Maturity models are essentially arbitrary, but otherwise the standard (5) is useful.

ITIL is bullshit until you have a giant project, program, or help desk to build/maintain/operate. Lots of fluff but it's nice to have such a large trove of best practice concepts to point at.

straight from selling bullshit 101, gg would give you a cut
Use it all day everyday for 10 years. You have to have a framework for auditing and getting the large contracts. It just works. Managing incidents, requests and changing with checks and balances.
