Is it possible to run a linux distro as VM in Windows but also being able to boot in to it directly? How?

Yes.
Download VirtualBox and use google.

Who the heck is more?

You just install Linux normally, then you configure your VM software under Windows to boot off the same drive / partitions?
Or you create a VM for Linux and Windows and you configure a hypervisor like Xen to (almost) directly boot the OS'.

PS: I'd do it the other way around.
Run the Windows botnet as a VM on Linux. It's the better host OS anyhow, almost all enterprise hosting etc. setups do it that way.

This. You'll notice windows installs easily, runs smoothly and has all it needs.
Most vm software will allow real access to disks. However I imagine there is security to stop you fucking your shit
>Partition disks ext4 / ntfs
>Install windows as normal
>From vmware install direct to disk on ext4
>Reboot entire computer into live cd
>Configure grub for windows and linux
In theory you should be able to boot windows / linux from grub at boot, then from inside windows boot nix

Virtualbox supports something called raw disk access to use a real partition in a guest

I never used it because I don't need it and it sounds dangerous a fuck as it could easily wreck havoc
If you try it good luck and post results

yes, I've done it before
just have the vm software boot from the partition, I forget how exactly
it works the other way around too, running windows in a vm on linux
you just have to have everything partitioned correctly

But can you play Gaymes in a VM?
This looks like a good place to discuss your favorite free software for managing VMs on Linux or freebsd

With PCI-passthrough
