>he hasn't overclocked his shitty 60Hz IPS monitor What

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

What are you waiting for, dumbass? My U2414H does 74Hz with custom timings.
>>
i just get the guy who wrote cru to figure out the timings for me
>>
>>59532887
Can you post a guide?
>>
>>59534338
>>59534347
Search google for name of your monitor + overclock and just copy what others do. Chances are you can overclock your monitor up to 77Hz through Nvidia control panel using "CVT reduced". Mine only goes up to 68Hz with CVT reduced, but U2414H are shit at overclocking using default timings so I found the custom timings in a forum post somewhere. I can probably squeeze out another 2-5Hz using even lower timings, but I don't really feel like testing it right now.
>>
>>59532887

The human eye can't detect a difference above 60Hz. You're just spending money and/or ruining a perfectly good monitor.
>>
>>59532887
First perform a frame skip test.

Then we'll talk.

It's a fucking 1080p IPS 60Hz monitor. I don't care about its lifespan. I'm going to upgrade to a 144Hz gsync 2560x1440 Dell soon.
Overclocking monitors probably doesn't affect lifespan much if at all as long as it's within "spec" (monitor doesn't go black, artifacts or gives errors).

I did, no skipping.
>>
>>59536018
It does affect lifespan. My IPS monitor is nearly 8 years old now and after OC'ing it to 76hz for six years it now has degraded to 60hz and won't go any further.
>>
Can you even notice 14fps more?

I have a U2414H too but I'm lazy

Ay guide?
>>
>>59536197
I'm not going to keep mine for much longer. I bought it in late 2014 (or 2015, not sure) and I regret it. It was quite expensive for a 1080p60Hz display, too, but I wanted an IPS display and I liked the stand, 90 degree rotation and the thin bezels.
Also, 8 years is fucking long. How the fuck can you ise the same monitor for 8 years? I'm pretty sure it's fying of old age more than overclocking. Besides, that was 8 years ago when lcd/led panels were somewhat new. I don't trust you desu.
>>
>>59536232
I can definitely notice it. It's a ~25% improvement, so it's quite noticeable especially if you really look for it (moving windows is smoother, mouse pointer is smoother). Games with vsync are slightly smoother and more responsive.

Use CRU, add new resolution and copy my timings for 74Hz. Click ok and run the restart64.exe in CRU directory. It'll restart your gpu drivers. Once you're done with that, go into either nvidia control panel and choose 74Hz or go into display, advanced, adapter and choose 74Hz. If it fails, you'll get a message that timings don't work and it'll revert to 60Hz.

It'll probably work, if not try 72Hz which is actually better if you watch movies and tv shows a lot (72 is multiple of 24 which means no frame skipping or stuttering when viewing 24fps content).

>tfw can overclock ultrawide to 80hz but with frame skipping out the ass so its a waste
>>
>>59536232
Also, do a frame skip test. Just google frame skip test (it's called ufotest or something like that) and follow the instructions. Your picture should look like this >>59536034
Straight line with no breaks.
>>
>>59536315
Yeah, some monitors don't give you a timing error unless you go crazy with the settings and instead produce fake refresh rate with frame skipping.

this is even more pointless than overclocking your ram.

oc cpu
oc gpu
oc ram
oc display

>>59536415
>free 14Hz is pointless when you have a herzlet panel
It doesn't run hotter at all since it's still pushing about the same or slightly higher pixel rate bandwidth or whatever it's called. My monitor uses 15w to begin with which is nothing. It uses maybe a few watts more now if that.
>>
>>59536415
at least ram can have some benefiting. like when moving large chunks around in memory like with 24++ MP images in TIFF at high DPI.

Oh gee, you surely aren't the sharpest tool in the shed, but then again, trying to be would just be "pointless" as well, wouldn't it?
>>
>implying i can run anything at more than 30fps
>>
>tfw monitor doesnt even acept a 1mhz clock
>>
Hmm..is it safe? Don't really wanna cook my expensive 4k panel.
>>
>>59536616
As long as you stay within range it's perfectly safe. If the screen goes black, just revert to last working setting, no harm is done.
>>
>>59532887
My Dell S2340L can only go up 5Hz. Free Hz is free Hz but i noticed some weird shit and rolled back to 60.
