Why are there no batteries that won't cause housefires? Why do people still use Lithium-ion garbage?

cheap to make and not the worse thing humans has put to their faces.

Solid state batteries are on their way.

so this... is the power of samsung...

One of the co-inventors, John Goodenough, recently developed a new version of them that do not explode.
With that name you can see why they didn't bother further.
Highest commercial energy density. You wanted to have small, energy draining smartphones and laptops, so this is the future you chose.

They're also like exponentially less degradey.

Lithium polymer, everyone knows those don't explode or catch fire

NiMH. Problem is it stores about half the energy per unit volume.
enjoy your millimeter-thick exploding phone.
There are, lithium batteries are pretty safe provided they don't become too hot or have manufacturing defects. The main problem is making sure they do not get overcharged which can be monitored with voltage.

>John Goodenough
kek, he really honors his name with his inventions.
>>59533099
do you know a smartphone that uses that type of battery?

Supercapacitors, hopefully. Graphene shows high charge density, but growing sheets of the shit is hard.
