>get new PC

>everything works
>decide to get latest drivers because muh imaginary gaymen gains
>Windows now has one-second black screens at random intervals
>get a heart attack as I start to envision the many hours of pain and suffering that lay ahead trying to find and fix issues which may require RMA'ing semi-dead hardware
>switch back to older drivers

let this be a reminder to never update your graphics drivers

dont worry, i wont
My Windows trademark experience:
>time to update drivers
>download latest
>alright, time to disconnect from the internet because I know windows will install old drivers again once I delete them
>uninstall drivers
>asks reboot
>reboot
>it installs the old drivers immidiately even though I'm not connected to the internet
>fuck it we'll do it live
>start new driver installer
>it detects the old drivers
>it uninstalls old drivers and the installs new ones
I feel like a retard
There is no point to uninstall drivers in advance in the year 2017 because the driver installer handles that just fine

Yeah but for whatever reason nvidia themselves tell you on their site that you should uninstall drivers first from the control panel

Nice blog.
>>59532161
I always google around for the driver version to see the number of people griping that their shiny new PC/GPU/toaster just got turned into a virtual paperweight.
>>59532161
Use DDU, dumbass.
>>59532161
this is what you've done wrong:
>Windows
hahahahaha
>nvidia drivers
Clearly you should have used the "Clean" install option in the Nvidia drivers installer and also not been such a noob
>>59532639
>having to use unofficial software to get official software working as intended
Also not necessary in 2017

Schwuchtel
I've got a similar situation to OP's
>Have a laptop for AoE III gayming
>AMD Switchable Graphics driver preinstalled
>Everything works fine
>1 year later it automatically updates the driver to the "cooler" AMD Radeon Crimson
>Everything stops working, 5 FPS, switches to default Intel family graphics
>Look online for solutions
>Post on AMD's forum
"Sorry your model is no longer supported for this update"
>Updates either way
>No way to rollback
>Forums are full of people complaining about it and request the previous drivers
>AMD does not deliver as it is no longer officially supported
And that's how they screwed with thousands of people owning that particular model (Satellite L-70 smth) and made a promise to myself never to buy a laptop with AMD graphics card

Did you try this? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930
Or are you talking about the driver updating itself? Because I'm pretty sure you can disable that in the control panel.

>>59532416
dude what?
it doesnt install old drivers if you delete the driver or ask windows not to. i mean ffs guys. win10 is shit, but this is just common sense lol
or just use DDU when installing new drivers
>>59532416
>He didnt delete driver files as well
Anon, please try that next time. I hope your driver installing goes well.
