after years of using mechanical keyboards
i realize i preferred membranes all along
hold me, /g/
>>59522450
Me too.
>>59522450
Own 4 mechanical keyboards from over the years, prefer microsoft membrane.
>tfw fell for meme
ive noticed it too
I want a membrane or just a non mechanical one in general that has n-key rollover. They're not easy to find.
>>59522450
no worries man, i like my clickity clacky.
we still /g/rothers
I'm the same way. I especially like low travel ones as well. It's also easier to type faster for me.
damn this looks dope
>>59522450
They have their charms and low cost, but I like the feel and sound of my bigfoot too much to give it up, I'll use one if im traveling though
can anyone recommend me a membrane /scissor switch keyboard that is comparable to the Logitech k740 but is a compact version?
Honestly, typing on a chiclet keyboard I do prefer non-mechs. As long as they feel solid and have that popping feel they're just fine, and the quiet is really much better.
That said, I own 4 mechs and a HHKB, wondering if I should try a Realforce or just go for the Surface Ergonomic Keyboard thing that's out... Shame it isn't a TKL.
I am just so sick and tired of the noise, can't use the board where it really matters: at work.
>>59522782
Same as you. I would love to try a topre keyboard but I could never justify the price, even for work when the regular membrane keybaords are fine.
Still using two Model Ms at work (the default Lenovo/hp keyboards are too shit to be tolerable) and at home.
Tried other technologies and won't go back to them.
Decent mention: some Dell keyboards.
buy topre
How loud are brown switches compared to blue ones? I have a broken keyboard with blues so I'm wondering whether I should repair it or buy one with brown ones.
I've never tried a mechanical keyboard, this is the pro gaming keyboard i use
>>59523765
also it's totally solid and pretty heavy
>>59523745
that keyboard is too edgy
>>59523745
This must be the shittiest layout possible for programming.
>>59522450
id get a membrane if a decent looking one with backlight and no gaymer shit existed
being the basement gentleman such as my self i actually need a backlit keyboard
>>59522782
stuff a red switch keyboard with o rings, bam membrane
>>59525345
Backlight is gamer shit.
>>59525321
Yep. It's horrible.
I don't get how people can go from mechanical to membrane.
I have to use a membrane at work and hate it even though I don't type much at work.
>>59522540
microsoft and dell membrane is god tier
>be me
>build a $1600 system
>buy a nice new $11 microsoft keyboard to go with it
because:
>the only keyboards I can actually try in my area are faggoty Razers at Best Buy
>not going to pay $20 for a mechanical keyboard sampler thing
>i don't like that led and rgb shit
My only real complaint is that sometimes I'll mistake a full press for a failed press. Sitting here I can literally do half-A-button presses.
I'm also not aware of the n-ley rollover meme. If it's that big of a deal, why doesn't /g/ just build their own keyboard?
>>59523765
Give it back to your high-school, Tyrone.
>>59525733
There are people here that build their own boards
>>59525368
maybe but its pretty practical and i want it
>>59522633
I have one of those here somewhere. If there's such a thing as a cheap feeling/sounding membrane keyboard then this is surely it.
>>59525782
I want to do it, help me, /g/. I want to live the meme.
>>59525702
lenovo aint bad

Out of the various shitty membranes I've typed on over the years the Cherry G83-6104/5 is one of the few I could see myself using for any length of time.
The only advantage of mechs for me is if you're using a very light key, such as reds. I can type fast as fuck on them and I don't get any kind of pain in my hands over long periods of usage like I used to with membranes. Anything requiring more force to activate is a meme and not worth it at all.
>>59525345
I'm useing one of these
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-Color-LED-Backlight-Keyboard-Wired-USB-Illuminated-Cool-Ergonomic-PC-Gaming-AU-/252287995417?hash=item3abd894e19:g:Z50AAOSwG-1WwaaZ
It's gaymer, but it's cheep.
The kicker is this
THE QUICK BROWN FO JUMPS OVER THE LAZY DOG
Only drops "x" on the double shift test.
>>59525733
i use M$ wired 200 too, but my shift is getting stuck after a cleaning, feels bad man. Also its turning off randomly on windows 8.1 unless forbid power management in the device manager options.
>>59525985
Let me try
T UI RW JS V H OG
Why is this?
>>59526042
n key rollover
>>59525991
That's gay. Sorry about the 8.1 too.
What mine does pisses me off but it's actually a problem with my shit asus z170-a mobo- the computer will start up but none of the USB ports will be activated and then I have to hit reset. It never did it until I overclocked and it still does it sometimes, even after turning off FastBoot.
No, other than that the only thing I've noticed is that the Enter key has been wobbling from be striking it on either end away from center. Maybe I should work on my technique!
>>59525985
>THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS OVER THE LAZY DOG
What did he mean by this?
>>59526197
>X
>>59526042
HE QUIK BROWN FO JUPS OER HE LA DOG
on the keyboard OP posted. Weird
>>59526276
/mkg/ is very touchy about this. They'll call all boards with less than 6 dropped lies.
>>59526226
>>59526335
How do you do it? I don't /mkg/ because I haven't ascended yet and don't play on dropping that much dosh while I'm 31 and still at my mum's.
>>59522590
>I want a membrane or just a non mechanical one in general that has n-key rollover. They're not easy to find.
I'm looking for the same, but not expensive gaymer shit.
If you manage to find something let us know.
>>59525368
no, backlights are for people who aren't familiar enough with keyboards to use them without looking at them
I've owned mech keyboards with red, brown, and blue switches and the linear switches are shit for typing and blues are only good for annoying the shit out of anyone in the same building as you
I switched to a scissor switch keyboard and love it so much more
>>59526595
see
>>59525985
They're cheep and ship world wide free. Check ya own nationality ebay. There's alto a ton of pretty good mice.
