I was trying to fix the fucking abominable font rendering OpenSUSE has. People online recommended installing namtrac:subpixel/freetype2 but when I added that repository and tried installing it, it said I already had freetype2 installed.

I'd use a distro that isn't an eyesore, but OpenSUSE is the only one that I've managed to successfully get running on my desktop at higher than 1024x768.

if ttf-liberation is the only package installed fulfilling the need "ttf-font" all packages that require "ttf-font" get trashed too.

Literally just install another ttf-font and this won't happen.

You all niggers are just too stupid to read manpages and understand how apt works. When you start removing a package X which was installed as part of Y, apt assumes you want to get rid of the whole collection, since X is MARKED as automatically installed as part of Y.

To solve the "problem" - which is imho more convenience when uninstalling - mark the program you want to remove as munually installed and it will remove itself without pulling the whole collection Y.

If you really want to remove that, you can always mark it as manually installed by typing "apt-get install [name of program]".
