Is 1440p gaming a meme?
Was going to get a 1440p 24" monitor and 1080Ti, but should I just save the money and get 1080p and a cheaper card?
Get a TV and console instead

1440 p will be the new 720p fag go 4k
Why do you need a 1080ti for 1440p if money is an issue?

So 4k is actually the best option here under all circumstances. It's a rather magical resolution.
1920x1080 is the current standard, because it fits the 16:9 ratio perfectly and can be made cheaply for a variety of platforms.
Underneath 1080i/p is 720i/p, or 1280x720.
1440, which is 2560x1440 is the next logical mid-step, which is exactly double 720, and fits exactly 4 720 panels in 2x2 arrangement.
4K, then, is actually an exact step beyond for both lineages. 3840x2160 is exactly 4 1080 panels, and exactly 9 720 panels.
Mathematically, there's no reason not to go straight to 4k, especially since it is not much more money to do so.

Makes sense, but until 4k 144hz becomes affordable I'll stick with my 1440p 144hz monitor.

Understandable. 144hz is quite nice.
I've been hung up on my curved setup, myself. I just can't get over how pleasant it is.

I went from a 1080p 60hz to a 1440p 144hz with g-sync, best decision of my life
I tried some 4k monitors. it's a huge deal if you're used to see 1080p but it's not that different from a 2k
it's better, but not ground breaking. I'd rather have 144 hz instead of more pixels
if you have money, go for it.
