Hi /g/, does anyone still use Windows 7?
I've been having screen tearing issues in YouTube and windowed games for a very long time, and I've only just realised what's doing it, the Windows Classic theme.
Is there any way to force vsync at all times other than re-enabling aero? As without Aero you windows doesn't use it's own vsync abilities.
More people use Windows 7 than 10
>Windows Classic theme causing screen tearing
For whatever reason WinClassic isn't hardware accelerated, it's fully software rendered. So as you said, Windows doesn't bother to vsync it. Unfortunately it's pretty much deprecated even by Windows 7 standards.

That's a shame, I really like the simplicity of it without all the aero screen cancer glass effects. Are custom themes really that horrible and system damaging if you aren't running a toaster? I haven't used a custom theme in years so I don't even know the best way to apply them these days.
All I want is something flat and boring that I can use and read easily.

Just disable transparency, autismo..

It's got that gradient garbage at each end of the taskbar, looks like something straight out of a 2004 ricer desktop. I just can't deal.

I use it, but only for games, I don't even have Flash installed on that thing.

Not him but Windows Aero is complete garbage.

Yes.
Since I got vsync to work on with the Linux Nvidia drivers I could gladly ditch that POS.

I like it.

I think it's better than flat garbage. Pic reated is flat garbage.
I remember downloading a classic theme that worked with Aero, you will have to patch Uxtheme for that.
The same can be done on Windows 8.1 but it's more of a hassle due to not having the Classic theme by default at all.

Why you dont use Aero????? You understand that youre not gaining ANY increase in performance, right?

>Aero cancer
I never really got that meme. If you have a tiny screen the bars are obtrusively big, sure, but anything near 1080p or up the UI scaling (or lack thereof) makes the Aero bars tiny (and imho aesthetic as fuck)
Just need to find a desktop background that looks good with Aero, and the right colour / transparency.
>Aero cancer
I bet you one of those retards that used Win 98 till 2013.

seconding this. I've tailored every part of the appearance of my Win7 except for that and it's pissing me off.
