At what point should I consider upgrading my 4.0 processor to keep up with a 1080ti?

I have an intel I7 6700 4.0 ghz

7700K has no IPC improvements, and you'll hit roughly the same overclock (4.9-5ghz) if you delid your 6700K

In summary nope

This.
The only improvement worth noticing in kaby lake's improvement is the integrated graphics. It makes last gen Intel CPU only relevant in laptops.

Elsewhere if you have an OK GPU, you're better off using the 6th gen intel and save some money for other / later upgrades

He said 6700 not 6700K
>>
>>59489337
Why on fucking Earth would you buy a 6700 non-K
>>
>>59489383
Not OP, but could be a prebuilt PC with a GPU he installed or typo (hopefully).
>>
I am using a 3550 with a 1060 6GB. Pretty much moving everything.
Is it worth to change or should I wait for the next or maybe 9th gen?
Shame on Intel, btw
>>
Waiting on the non-reference 1080 Ti's

Is there a brand that's better or worse for coil whine? I'm sure it's a quality of components issue
>>
>>59488853
hahaha no
the 6700 won't bottleneck the 1080ti

>HURR GOALPOSTS
it's a bottleneck if it's virtually unplayable, fag
>>
>>59490305
My experience:
Worst whine but longest life: EVGA
Least whine but bad customer support: ASUS
>>
>>59491154
No, it's a bottleneck if it's limiting the performance of the video card. That is the literal definition of the term, regardless of your headcanon.

>sub-60fps minimums
>acceptable

This is what poorfags actually believe.
>>
>>59491170
okay

i don't really have anything other to say than your opinion is incorrect

Cheaper mobo + 6700 non K
You can save around 100 eurobucks with this setup
Most people do not overclock anyway
Also non K is only 65 W
>>
How much worse and why are the founders edition cards than non-reference ones? I got my PALIT 1080ti FE and I'm afraid I dun goof'd.
