I'm more interested in why 4chan would compress a 1kb image.

I disabled this feature in my editor. I also place brackets myself, which isn't even slow with enter mapped to the left hand.
As for escaping symbols when pasting strings: my preferred language isn't retarded so that isn't neccessary.
