I'm not him but in my experience (1.5 year ago) VMware was significantly faster at running Centos. They say it's even better at running Windows, I need to check that because Virtualbox is very slow for W10 guests.

This is personal software use, not a scientific research paper. I don't care about trying to pretend I set a standard for industry use. I tried using VMWare after years of VirtualBox use and found VMWare ran better for me, so I stuck with it instead.
