Why is there arch elitism when Gentoo, the superior distort, is the default on this board?
>>
>>59462146
I have no idea what this shit is, but why the fuck do you care about how someone installs their os, fucking faggot.

i love this meme
>>
>>59462146
Yep i am a lazy debian Guy who just tried how it would work haha
>>
>>59462146
They won't be able to use it anyway as it has no GUI package manager by default.

You can in options octopi and gtk pacman update manager
>>
>>59462146
>>
>>59462146
Right, because being a "tru powah uzer" is using a distro that doesn't even come with an installer.

>>59462925
keeping this picture forever
>>
>>59462146
It's a nice ass install script
>>
The only officially available binary has an installer now. It's been like that for a couple years.
>>
ive installed arch multiple times, i even made a script to install it automatically........
that being said i still use this occasionally... you know why?

- easy to install anywhere
- fast install
- isnt specific to a user like my script
- easily change kernel from default to grsec if needed

sure noobs can use this script to install it all they like, but it is up to them to manage the installed system.
>>
>>59462906
Like anyone installing from Anywhere really knows what those are, and that they would have to choose them anyway.

You say that like being an Archfag is something desirable
>>
>>59462146
I don't claim to be an Archfag. I just like using Arch without going through the entire process by hand.
>>
>doing things the time consuming way is the way smart guys do it!

lol youre a fucking retard
>>
>>59462326
not him but a lot of it is because arch involves knowing your system based off how you configured it. If you didn't and just rely on some script god knows what it will do and when you have a problem, you wont know how to fix it.

Like installing arch itself is one of the easiest steps, it's customizing it, fine tuning it, etc that takes time. Spoonfeeding people to get to first base isn't helping anyone

Tldr - "I can follow wiki step by step then either settle with the default settings or dotshare.it and Ctrl+c -> ctrl+v. Therefore I am superior"
And you're right, most people don't even read manuals, at least you can read and follow instructions and orders.

>>59463119
>arch involves knowing your system based off how you configured it

This. I've installed it manually many times since I've first found Arch in 2012. I was there for the transition to systemd. I tried this out for the first time and fuck it just works. To hell with the spergs who shout about the "arch way". Its my computer and I'll do what I want.

There is some value to learning how to set up your own bootloader and fstab though. Even though Arch isn't as involved as Gentoo I still learned a lot. Figuring out how to manually set up a dual boot was a pain but I'm glad I did so.
>>

I doubt any installer would create my setup (btrfs with subvolumes inside LUKS).
>>
>>59462146
Architect is atill better tho
>>
>>59466148

ive did it twice but i dont feel like that i have learned anything
>>
>>59463341
>>59463424
not everyone's install is the same and graphical installers fail to account for that. Linux isn't so statically defined as windows or bsd is, arch is if you want a system defined by you, an installer isn't going to do that for you.
>>
>>59462380
The only real "difficulty" is not using a GUI to install it. You do need to know what you're doing. Whilst Arch-Anywhere does the job for the lazy, it is worth learning how to do it yourself.
>>
>>59462146
Ahaha! You faggot! You'll never know if I did or didn't. Trolled you like I trolled the Gentoo-fags. KYS.

I'm running macOS and never a beta builds. My computer like the great wall of CHINA that it is so stable. Fucking yellow things can't even knock it down with horses. Truly it's a gift from God. FINDER is the greatest file explorer ever coded by a person who writes code
