Hi /g/uys,
I'm currently on my 3rd year of biology studies. I'm planing to go on a master degree about bioinformatics due to the fact that information is a real passion for me.
Any idea what type of knowledge is important for this kind of sector of activity ?
I am already learning python and I am planing on learning SQL. I heard that we were going to have a look to R. What are your advice ?
Thanks guys ! Cheers

Hope you enjoy writing papers. Publish or perish.
You will have a very hard time finding work in a lab, watch out as your work will largely be contracted out as opposed to full time. Many bio majors already have most basic stats anyways, and many are minors in biostatistics.
Sure the computer part is an edge but most uses for it are very often already covered through generic free software that's essentially plug and play.
Make sure that you can find a lab and start interning asap or else you'll be applying for the rest of your life

Brush up on your statistics.
R is worth learning.
Python will serve you well also as there are a lot of very useful toolboxes.
