I am a graduate student in computer science I NEED to have a laptop, and my current machine is ideal because I am doing a lot of work inside virtual machines. I would not appreciate being down over a grand in tech that would be needed to be replaced out of pocket. I am saving for a move to wherever I'm going to be able to do my PhD.

It would be my financial situation, not my social situation, that would be fucked beyond belief.
