Gut an old shitty LCD monitor, have you ever seen the transparent monitors? Essentially duct tape one to the window of a windowed case,

just search for transparent lcd and you'll see what you want

if the lcd is displaying an all black image, the panel appears to be heavily opaque, but if a white image is shown, it'll be see through.

it's not a new concept, but it's only just starting in the boutique pc space.

Ah ok, might be a little pricey for what I'm doing unless I can find a cheap used one
I've also come up with a low cost alternative that may work better for my project, using the Redi Shade
