westmere's long in the teeth depending on who you ask, but they wouldn't be bad goers at all so long as you don't pay out the ass, with the slow pace of practical returns on newer generations a dual-processor westmere system can still pack a decent punch for jobs that can utilize them, they'll take plenty of RAM and four disks too, obviously the buses aren't going to be the latest and greatest though

dunno if the other guy is *100%* correct on graphics cards, unless the Intel models changed things. OS X will support anything as long as you've got the proper drivers installed, but the system itself, particularly open firmware, might not fully support the card unless it's got a Mac ROM on it, so you'd always want to keep the original card around if that's the case

The downside is single core performance isn't great, but u can get a 12 core beast going that still stands the test of time till today.

Pop in a 980Ti and you're good to go for macOS and Winshit via dual boot.

Yes, it's called target disk mode, but you will not see the boot menu and you have to blind select the partition with left or right key and hit enter.

HOWEVER, they sell 980Ti's on eBay that have Mac EFI firmware and you will see the boot menu with those and it will work as normal in macOS and Windows.

Also some older cards like the 280X work out of the box without any need for drivers.

That being said, and besides said ratio, I personally enjoy cleanliness over simplicity. Hard angles look cleaner to me than a lot of the modern day rounded mumbo jumbo. So, while a lot of the lines posted in your pic are straight lines, the elbows and other joints (manifolds, for example) are curved. That feature is unappealing to me. If I could have everything perfectly squared out, I'd actually just do that. But, that has a low chance of actually happening.
