PS4 Pro is only good for games with the Pro in mind. Otherwise, it's just upscaled 4K and lower framerates. It also makes an ever-so-slight difference on PSVR, but nothing really noticeable during gameplay.
I'd say PS4. Or better, get yourself a PC.

the smartest thing to do would be not spending any money on a console.

You save the initial purchase and don't spend countless hours gaming. You could use these hours to make money.

Therefore the alternative would be a potentially infinite amount of money for yourself of playing video games.

Realistically though i'd say the hours spent gaming could be spent working.

So you could work for min wage like lets say even below so $7 bucks for every hour you play a game.

That'll be easily 1000 hours ore more so $7000 in your pocket you can use for yourself vs spending $300 + not earning anything.

The loss is greater than $7300 with a gaming time of 1000 hours.

Is it worth it to buy a PS4 for over $7000 ?! Maybe for you - for most people its not and this is just a meme wage actually.
