Lets talk about something a bit different. RAM overclocking? Do any of you guys do it? I just over clocked my G.SKILL Value DDR4 2133Mhz to 2900Mhz

overclock this, ahmed
>>
I don't overclock RAM
I was under the impression it made other overclocks less effective or something because the bridge is used up more.

Educate me.

Honestly I have no fucking clue about that stuff. I lost the silicon lottery with my 6700k, it's not possible to push it past 4.5Ghz so I went for OC'ing my budget ass RAM.

Worked out pretty well. According to the meme site that is UserBenchmarks my RAM is now in the 100th percentile for this exact type, I guess I won the silicon lottery with my RAM.

Just getting everything set up for when the 1080 TI arrives

So are you noticing improvements in benchmarks or applications?

What's the heat like?

Damn son.

I've only played one game with it so far (Watch Dogs 2) but in it, it has been a major improvement. I went from around 50FPS in the city driving to now about 65-70FPS. Certainly worth it in this case. Though some of that would likely also be attributed to my CPU OC too.

As for temps, well the RAM sticks don't have temp sensors so I can't track it via software and I lack a FLIR cam so I put one hand on the PSU and the other on the memory modules to see if they were over heating and it seemed fine too me but I have a Corsair 200R with every slot for fans filled (3 120mm intake, 2 140mm outflow, 1 120mm outflow)

I had to increase the CAS latency and bring it down slightly to 2900Mhz to get a reliable post but aside from that it's working fine now. Pretty happy with the results from that.

Is it worth it?
