> AMD drivers on linux still don't have HDMI/DP sound

Literally explain yourselves AMD and linux fags. How hard is implementing sound in Linux that no one has been able to successfully do it in years? Is the AMD house of cards starting to fall down?

Mine does...
HD7770
radeon
I have audio out over DP1.4 to a Dell P2715Q...
>>
>>59373735
Yeah but how can I get audio from rx480 on my 4.10 kernel right now?

If you were using Ubuntu, Fedora, or SUSE, it would probably work.

>>59374012
Yeah seriously I can't get this. How come windows poo in loo programmers can get everything together so fast and working with almost any hardware but linux "superior" programmers aren't able to get simple shit sound or thumbnails working? I think it has something to do with majority of them being autistic fucks
>>
Why does everyone hate poo loos? What about beaners? Fucking bean in my peen
>>
>>59374140
I don't know. Stock Ubuntu unity looks great and performs well. Scales brilliantly.
>>
>>59374216
Nobody gets paid to write Linux drivers.

>>59374349
THIS fucking right here, in enterprise you get all the drivers you want since there is a shitton of money in it, not so much for desktop Linux distros where everyone expects everything to be free

>>
>>59374349
>>59374398
Ummm, wrong! AMD has at least 2 full time employees working on mesa. That's excluding anyone who works on the actual driver, which I estimate to be over 10 people.
>>
>>59374349
You do know that AMD employees are writing Linux drivers, do you?
>>
David Airlie shat on AMD code because it was unmantainable, AMD is still rewriting it to cater to coding standards. Meanwhile, no HDMI/DP sound, unless you build your own patched kernel or use a PPA/Copr that packages a patched kernel.

Pick one

Lmao you people shit on Windows users but you can't be serious when you demand that everyone must put up with shit like OP's?
>>
>>59375174
what makes you think they're different people?
>>
>>59375203
> T'was an act
>>
>>59374012
you need to look into whitelisting your bios and change the wificard to a Stallman approved one.
>>
>>59373201
Can you fags not just use optical out?
>>
>>59373201
>HDMI
lmao, enjoy your meme
>>
>>59373735
Reminder that DC will literally (literally) never get merged.
>>
>>59375498
Because every PC has optical out. Sure.

>>59375741
Just built the latest 4.9 kernel with their patches in it. Works fine except OpenGL compositor crashes every time so I had to disable.
