Has physically manhandling a piece of technology ever made it start working again for you, /g/?

my 2nd monitor is screwing me over lately. It only turns on when i replug the power cable.
Since that isnt the most reliable technique anymore i have to punch it once and it starts working. Just like in some movie when a guy hits the TV and it works again. So yeah - i manhandle a piece of technology on the daily but i don't know how far that'll get me.
I had a laptop drive that was on its way out and the only way I could get it to work (for a few days between sessions) was to drop it on the ground and drag this super strong magnet across it.
This torture technique worked for about 2 months before it finally succumbed to death.

indeed, after slapping the back of my laptop afew times loud screeching shrieks could be heard, I'm sure some sticky fluid started coming out of the battery too
