Who thought EFI was a good idea?
> EFI is the firmware that replaces the old-fashioned BIOS on modern computers. Various rootkit exploits have been implemented over the years that make it possible to inject code that will then be run before the operating system itself launches. Working on a kernel level, rootkits are hardy pieces of malware that evade easy detection and are able to survive system formats.

Secure Boot, in paper and in practice looks, afaik UEFI also prevents full desk encryption.

I don't think EFI is a good idea, but at least it has solved some problems for me.
Like for instance, if I want to install multiple operating systems, I know how to "remove them" without making a mess.

You're thinking of PXE. Whole 'nother.

I can do that without EFI, git gud.
I like electronic fuel injection, carbs are just a hassle.

Step it up m8
The only benefit of UEFI is that you can install Windows and Linux in any order and Windows won't eat your bootloader. Also >2TB partition support.

Also, the shell. I wish old BIOS systems had a shell.
