Level1 Tech (Wendell and senpai) managed to get one of their R7 chips up to 4.2Ghz, so on CPU-z it scores at 2429, higher than a 7700k at the same clocks. (http://valid.x86.fr/u5xhc7)
So clock for clock, Ryzen is indeed better off. Though some chips are struggling to clock that high. This could be down to the fabs, and the nodes not yet having a chance to mature. And this wouldn't be something exclusive to Ryzen either.

1800x was right
1700x was 20 off
1700 was 10 off

Clocks for all three were spot on
HOWEVER, not only does it say that non-x models dont have XFR, it also says the 1600x would have a clock of 3.7 and boost of 3.7+
It also doesn't include a 1500x, which there will be.

Let us just wait until they are released and we have some real world benchmarks. If it disappoints then, sure hit the brakes.
