Imagination Announces PowerVR Furian GPU Architecture: The Next

Will anyone use it? Imgtec has pissed off almost everyone besides Apple. They're a nightmare to try and work with.

But SoC company already paid for IP

Basically they want each device OEM to pay huge amounts upfront for any drivers on top of what they get for selling the GPU IP to chip manufacturers. They won't even help you write your own even under NDA. You just get a binary blob and any time you want a driver update or new feature you're expected to pay imgtec 100k+

They're dead the second apple uses another GPU in idevices. Their MIPS chips are getting replaced by arm everywhere.
