if you do something illegal with it and vpn is in same country you reside - police might stick soldering iron in your providers' ass and it might surrender logs if it keeps it (which you ll never know). choose a service that has servers in multiple countries and doesnt keep logs. if the server is far from your location, you will experience slight delays.
