I think it was selling Imageon off to Qualcomm.
AMD obviously has never had the smallest chance at competing in the personal and business computing market, maybe at least they could have had a shot at the then emerging mobile market.
There is no single mistake that brought AMD's bankruptcy.
Selling their own fabs, hiring what-the-fuck-am-i-doing CEO's, hiring SJW's and women, trying to save a buck by not hiring developers with long and good track-record - like Keller, who they obviously did hire for their last microarch, but while which was a improvement, provided to be too little too late - and finally CEO's not listening even those green developers, who insisted that BD will flop hard.
Buying ATI on the other hand was a brilliant move and especially taking the APU road, which almost saved the company.

Ryzen would of been a great CPU in 2015.
