Does 1080p output to a decent 4K TV looks as good as in a native 1080p TV of the same size?
Since 4k is 4 times as many pixels the scaling can just pixel double yes?
I'm looking at new TVs and not sure if I should go 4K.
Anyone?
It looks better.
Especially on Samsungs they have really good upscaling

Any word on Vizios?
They have some nice 55+ inch 4K TVs under $1200

idk google around

Has Vizio become not bargain bin shit lately? I've fucking hated them since their overscanning LCDs that couldn't even get to a service menu.

They outright have planned obsolescence and spied on what you watched to sell to advertisers.
But the sell panels comparable in quality to LG/Samsung for like 30% cheaper.

Looks like Vizio is no go for upscaling, try to get that samsung

Noted, thanks.

This absolutely depends on the content type.
Running a PC with 1080p output on a 4k screen, the UI will look garbage. Documents will be garbage, internet pages will be garbage. Worse than a native 1080p screen usually. Games aren't really much worse but again UI/text elements are blurry af.
TV shows and movies, the content the upscaler was designed for, look perfectly fine @ 1080p on a 4k screen.

looks perfectly fine. I have a vizio p series 65" 4k. Games that are locked to 1080p still look perfectly crisp and clear.
