What's the problem with chiclet keyboards as long as the mechanism under them are solid? Does the shape of the key really change your typing experience that much?

I actually miss the chiclet keyboard my now defunct laptop had

I still have the laptop lying around and already scavenged a few things from it. Is there a way to use its keyboard on my desktop?
