Can you give me a quick rundown on debian?

Support contracts, something that you can't get from Debian's volunteer community. That's why the FBI and NASA use Ubuntu.
Some better defaults (for example the NTP bug wasn't an issue because unlike Debian, Ubuntu had set sensible defaults).
PPAs are pretty comfy and in practice work a bit better than /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
It's not part of the base distro, but you can get live, rebootless updates for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS kernels with Canonical Livepatch. Or also with Ksplice who did this years before, but only if you're a legacy customer (Oracle bought them and won't let anyone new subscribe now). That hasn't really rolled out to any wider distros much yet, despite the existence of kGraft and kPatch.
I guess if you like Snappy. I don't like Snappy.
