Hold the fuck up there. I don't really think an AI can analyze a full game of poker objectively yet. This is not quite like chess where it can calculate all the possible moves in some advance. How can it tell a player is bluffing for instance? It doesn't even have access to the full set of cards.
I'm not saying it can't replicate the thought process of a skilled player, but in this type of game you can't win on that alone. My take is they kept trying until luck favored the AI's side.

It says their monetary prizes weren't good enough to attract the best players. Also says nothing of the skillset of the players who were chosen. This doesn't really give us much to work off us. It's just an attractive headline.
