Its start shitting itself in new AAA games because of Nvidia VRAM scam.
Resident Evil 7 for example.

fair enough the other 3 are cheap available upgrades

Not the other anon. But what about the rx 470 4/8 gb? It's pretty cheap new and handles 1080p games quite fine.

this or 480
$135-170 minus whatever you can sell your gpu for and its brand new with returns and a warranty.
I'm currently running a 4GB GTX 680 with a very heavy OC, would it be worth going up to a GTX 780 for 105 USD? I'm waiting for Vega and the idea of having a bunch of old Kepler cards laying around to fool around with is something I don't have a problem with. The only thing I'm on the fence about is the drop in VRAM from 4 to 3 GB and whether or not the performance increase would be worth it. Worst case scenario I just have fun overclocking it.
RX460 or RX470
Cheap, far more powerful than a 6850, Vullkan support, Great Linux support with open-source drivers.
Used 7970, 290, 280x, 780 etc
rx 470
