>i7 7700k has a stock turbo of 4.5Ghz and siliconlottery puts a little over half of units as being able to hit 5.0Ghz
>I7 6900k has a stock turbo of 3.8 Ghz, google searches show 4.5Ghz as a common overclock
>R7 1800X has a stock turbo of 4.0Ghz, every reviewer seems to have an 'overclock' of 4.0 or 4.1 Ghz
What gives? Even Bulldozer could be pushed harder than this.

unmatured 14nm gloflo process, brand new architecture, rushed out the door. a lot of reasons
bulldozer was 32nm hkmg, this isnt compariable at all.
I build gaming PCs for a living. Most people do not overclock, even with suites that do it for you.

I browse 4chan for a living, most people here are factually wrong. Even when proven wrong.

Those are the kind of people that have someone else build a PC for them though

>the salt shakers are clearly see-through (there are green dots coming out of the technology shaker)
>when the autism shaker's cap pops off and autism starts flooding into the bowl the shaker's content doesn't decrease
is /g/ comprised of infinite autism?
>>59252608
what does this have to do with the thread? kill yourself nigger
>>59252756
>infinite autism
Yes.

The R7 series is just a budget 6900k. I wonder if it could clock better if they made it a higher wattage chip though.
>there will never be a 6.0 Ghz R7 1900X 9590 successor

I run WinRAR and Cinebench for a living. Most of the real world does to, time to grow up gaymen.

Overclocking is not worth the cost for most CPUs.
>Pay $50+ premium for an OC board
>Pay $50+ premium for a highend cooler
>Pay $30+ premium for a larger PSU
>Pay $20+ per year premium in power cost
All for some 200 MHz extra.
The last time when you got decent gains for OCing was during the Core 2 era 10 years ago where you could raise your clock rate by 50% on air coolers.
>>59253042
it's doubtful that amd is going to make one of those 220W atrocities ever again
>>59253194
Everything after Faildozer and Sandy Meme is not worth it in OC.
>>59253271
Why is that? Is it because of the smaller cpus?
